I’m trying to be REALLY good this week and ONLY list 3 things - I think each category here could have like 50 answers. ;)
1. Three of your favorite movies:
- Disney’s “The Kid”
- Field of Dreams
- Rounders
2. Three of your favorite things to drink:
- Diet Coke
- Juice flavored things (Crystal Light is great!)
- Trashcans.
3. Three of your favorite songs:
- Somewhere Out There (I think it’s awkwardly funny that’s been my favorite song since I was about 5-6)
- N’Sync’s Pop. (Well, most anything by N’Sync. It’s weird how much I like them)
- My Posse’s on Broadway by Sir Mix a Lot.
4. Three people who have recently been a positive influence on your life (outside of your family):
(Why’s it gotta be outside my family?)
- My old roommate / good friend Kami
- My co-worker Kristin
- Alicia Pants.
5. Three things you to do keep yourself entertained:
- Read the interwebs.
- Watch a LOT of TV (more than I’d like)
- Play Solitare on my iPhone and MahJong on my iPad.
6. Three things you’re attracted to in the opposite sex:
- Height
- Smile (and if he’s using it)
- Interest in sports.
7. Three things you love about yourself:
- I’m giving.
- I remember things that are important to others.
- I am one of the funniest people I know (and humble, too…hahaha).
8. The last three people who text messaged you:
- Alicia Pants
- Brother
- Sister
9. Three things you’re looking forward to this week:
- Mariner game with my family and boyfriend-in-law (What do you call your sister’s boyfriend? I’m gonna stick with that)
- A work event I’m going to. (I can’t believe I just said I’m looking forward to that. That’s weird. But the people at this one are pretty rad)
- Scheduling the elliptical delivery and set-up
10. Three wishes specifically for yourself…What are they? (Be selfish, and be honest.)
- My new fly ride to be paid for in cash. NO FINANCING. Big goal and I’d be content if it had SOME, but I want NONE!.
- To get to see the Mariners play 2 away games this year. (Very likely to be vs the Angels in June and vs the Yankees (!!!) in August)
- Lose 60+ pounds by the time I turn 30. Only 30 weeks / 212 days / 5104 hours. (but who’s counting?)
11. Three of your favorite quotes:
- “I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have become who I was intended to be.” – Douglas Adams
- “Sometimes the thrill of soaring has to begin with the fear of falling.” – Crystal Lewis
- “I want to be all that I am capable of becoming.” – Katherine Mansfield
12. Three of your biggest fears:
- Dying in a fire. Open flames pretty much terrify my for no justifiable reason.
- An intruder in my house.
- Spiders
13. Three of your favorite TV shows:
- Saved by the Bell
- How I Met Your Mother
- I really like the new(er) show Scandal
14. Three of your favorite things to purchase when you’re shopping.
- shirts in purple or green
- jackets/hoodies
- HALLMARK CARDS!
15. Three things that you enjoyed last week:
- Boozin with my posse on Friday night. Holy eff…that was the most random, bizarre but hilarious night.
- Talking with my sister.
- Seeing Avengers with my parents.
16. Three things that you always have in your bag or close to you if you’re not a purse kind of person.
(Sidenote, I *just* started forcing myself to carry a purse last week. I was tired of not having the things I needed (like my Invisalign) with me when I just would leave the house with the below list, so I’m more proud of what else I’m now carrying with me, but these are the mandatories)
-iPhone
- Keys
- Wallet (which, I have more membership cards in my wallet than any person probably ever needs. I’m weird. But I also go on free trips using points/miles/credits so it might be worth it)
17. Three types of food that you wouldn’t want to give up.
- Crab Cakes
- Ice cream / froyo
- CRÈME BRULEE. (I heart it)
18. Three things you do to enjoy burning calories:
- Going on walks with people
- Ellipticalling (that’s a verb)
- Dancing
19. Three things you dislike about blogging:
- That I have to use Google Reader and Tumblr and even then, you still have to click over to some people’s blogs cause they use a feeder block. I wish I just had one place to be able to like/comment/read everything.
- Sorting on Tumblr (or lack thereof), but I like Tumblr better than most of the platforms I’ve used.
- That many of my friends that have blogged in the past don’t like to anymore. I loved sharing that with them.
20. Three ways blogging has changed your life:
- I have met some pretty amazing people. (Happy Birthday, DIZZLE!!)
- There’s an accountability to myself that I’m trying to work on building, but in the meantime I’m able to be accountable to other people.
- You guys post some hilarious shiz. Seriously. And you’re pretty inspiring people.
This past week has been…challenging. I have had my heart broken (again) by the disappointment one friend gave me and was stunned by the actions of another.
However, I have had an illogically good weekend in spite of it - mostly because I realized just how tired I was of people doing shady things - regardless of intentions - and that I deserve better. I deserve to walk away. Being alone is finally GENUINELY feeling like a better option than what I’ve been dealing with. The best part? I’m not alone. I have some AMAZING people around me that have watched me struggle and put up with more than I’ve had to for YEARS (and years) and they are eager to be supportive, great companions.
Heard this song today and realized just how spot on it was.
“A Little Bit Stronger” by Sara Evans
Woke up late today, and I still feel the sting of the pain.
But I brushed my teeth anyway, got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face.
I got a little bit stronger.
Riding in the car to work, and I’m trying to ignore the hurt.
So I turned on the radio, Stupid song made me think of you,
I listened to it for minute, but then I changed it.
I’m getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger.
And I’m done hoping that we can work it out,
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around.
And ohhh I’m done thinking, that you could ever change.
I know my heart will never be the same,
but I’m telling myself I’ll be okay.
Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger.
Doesn’t happen over night, but you turn around and a months gone by,
And you realize you haven’t cried.
I’m not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer.
I’m busy getting stronger.
I’ve been saving money for awhile towards buying a new car, but I was in the mood to splurge today. I set out to spend (I wish I were kidding) and…talked myself out of almost everything on the list. Meh…maybe I don’t need a Kinect (I don’t). Maybe instead of the fancy grill I could get this cheaper one… I don’t really need this…I don’t feel like shopping for that…then I had an idea.
I had talked with my mom a few days ago about wanting an elliptical machine, so…why not get that? I could cancel my gym membership for a bit (While I belong to a nationwide gym, the cities I travel to don’t have that gym, so it’s pointless) and I would have NO excuse about inconvenience. SO then I started looking at those…and I found this lovely beauty (with great reviews on Amazon) for a STEAL of a deal (read: $100+ off the price on Amazon). So I bought it. I even splurged on buying the assembly! :)
I’m SUPER excited about this. My DVR fills up every time I’m gone and this is gonna be incredibly helpful to be able to be home, work out, be entertained and … yay!

Next toy: the new car! I’ve been driving Ol Reliable (I shouldn’t say old…it’s a 2004) and, well…Ford Focuses aren’t known to last much more than the 150k miles I’ve already put on it. I’ve been eyeing a Nissan Altima (and luckily I drive them frequently as rental cars) and also know a sales manager at the local Nissan dealership and…once I’m back home for awhile in August I plan to buy it. Until then, I’m stashing away TONS to get as close to paying for it in cash as possible. It’s super exciting for me!
Me today.
1. My office walls are white boards. I like that. I tend to make graphs and write things. A lot.
2. Obligatory Dilbert commic about not having work-life balance. (And a drawing from a former co-worker I miss a LOT)
3. Pictures!! Siblings, family, friends, big accomplishments…love it.
4. Funny chart (Yellow = People that eat healthy, well balanced meals. Purple = people that wish this were really a pie.)
5. Map of our crazy campus - I get lost a lot.
6. Me. Curly hair today (it’s faster). Cry face. (rough night/morning) Husky lanyard. New favorite earrings and my favorite top right now. The end.

Just left happy hour with the work chicas-somehow I was the one that ended up sitting in the sun. Burn lines should be entertaining. ;)
FMM: All the Single Ladies (and Gents)
1. What is your current relationship status? Are you happy with that status? I’m single. Am I okay with it? It’s tolerable, but not my ideal. People tell me to be happy by myself, which I’m working on, but I genuinely like myself the best when I’m in a happy, healthy relationship. I think the outlet of creative planning for myself and a partner is fun and I feel most able to conquer the world when I know someone is choosing to support me and will be along for the ride.
2. Do you find it enjoyable to take care of someone in addition to yourself, or do you prefer to be responsible only for yourself? I MUCH prefer taking care of someone else. My own laundry is a chore – doing a partners laundry (with mine) for whatever reason isn’t. I don’t get it, but I roll with it.
3. What’s the most important physical characteristic in your mate/potential mate? HEIGHT.
4. What’s the most important (non-physical) characteristic in your mate/potential mate? Integrity, intelligence, passion for sports, love for their family (and mine), sense of humor that makes me laugh / thinks I’m funny.
5. Is it important to you that your significant other have the same hobbies and interests as you? Not all of the same, but I would enjoy knowing I can tolerate what he’s passionate about (and vice versa). Like you don’t have to love scrapbooking (it might be weird if you do) but understand I want time to do it. And if you like a game or sport that I’ve never played/tried, it’s fun to learn to be able to have conversations about how it went, but I don’t need to always be there. Big hobbies like travel, sports, etc would be helpful to share.
6. If you could go out on a date with a celebrity who would it be? Peyton Manning. Hands down.
7. What’s your idea of a good first date? Getting drinks at a place that also serves food (so if it’s going well, it can lead to dinner, but doesn’t have to). Then walking to a park or scenic spot to talk more. I’ve had 2 first dates that stick out in my head as amazing and both had that in common.
8. Are there any traits/habits that you’d consider a deal breaker? Married people (obviously), someone who is rude to service people/their family/anyone I introduce them to, someone who doesn’t like sports. Inarticulate guys have been a huge frustration for me in the past and I would like to date someone that was more articulate, but I don’t know if that’s a deal BREAKER.
9. Okay ladies…Facial Hair: Yes, or No? Totally depends on the guy. It needs to be trimmed/tidy though regardless.
10. Would you marry someone who is opposed to diamond engagement rings?I totally didn’t think there were people that were that opposed to them, but maybe. I’d rather a diamond, but I’d prefer the guy. ;)
11. What do you wish you could do differently in your next relationship? Not over-analyze. Trust and not be proven wrong to have done so. Feel like they like me as much / more than I like them (Let them be the pursuer). Not live together until there is at least an engagement ring.
12. Is there anyone from your past that you’d like to date again now? There’s one that I tend to think back on and smile, but his head is so far up his @$$ right now that there’s no way I’d even communicate with him. All of the others I think ended for legitimate reasons.
13. Describe your worst first date story ever. I have gone on dates with some serious d-bags (I blame online dating). One told me “Wow, you look way better in pictures than you do in person” (TO MY FACE), and another was checking his phone NON STOP the entire like 30 minutes we had coffee and talked about himself the whole time.
14. Describe the perfect date with your significant other. Date Bucket List: A day at the fair (win me a stuffed animal, ride the ferris wheel, photobooth pictures, etc), fly somewhere for the day, carriage ride through Central Park, just me and them ALL DAY before / after a game (baseball, football, basketball – I don’t care. But breakfast, going to an afternoon game, then dinner and a dance? IDEAL).
15. Would you date someone shorter than you? Nope.
16. Share one (or a few) bonus traits that would be fun to find in an significant other (even if they aren’t as important as other traits.) Someone who will go to musicals with me if I can’t find a girlfriend to go. Someone that enjoys standup comedy (in person shows, not just on tv). Someone that plans the date (!!!). Someone that buys cards or sends cute texts regularly saying they are thinking of me. Someone that can think ahead to what would make me smile and DOES IT (don’t just tell me you thought of it. That’s nice, but MAKE ME SMILE.)
17. What’s one thing you’d like to do with a significant other that you’ve never done with another? Ha!! Get married? : )
18. PDA: Yes, or No? Yes, but no tongue. Hand holding, smooching, cuddling, even kissing is super sweet, but once tongue gets involved it’s not okay.
19. Do you kiss on the first date? Not typically, but on the REALLY good ones. ;)
20. Who, if anyone, makes your heart flutter? Not really anyone right now. Matlock did, but then went MIA, so that’s a bummer, but I’m okay with it right now. (annoyed, but okay over all.)
It’s amazing how much better I feel about myself and my life when I surround myself with life-long friends (aka lifers).
Starting to remember what content-with-life-regardless-of-circumstances Becky feels like.

I needed these in my life.
Went on the 3rd date tonight with the guy I will refer to as “Matlock”. He is pretty wonderful.
My head is spinning and I’m not sure if its from a cold (sleeping on a sidewalk/traveling for 3 weeks will do that to you), the unrealistic amount of work on my plate right now, or feeling like *this* is what a mature guy looks like. Could be a wonderful combination of the above.
Still trying to keep my heart under control (need to guard it quite a bit right now) but feeling so much hope for the male population.
So I weighed this morning after the weekend of a lifetime… I DID NOT GAIN WEIGHT ON VACATION. Well, that I know of.
I was 5 pounds down as of Saturday April 28th. As of this morning, I’m 5.2 pounds down (total). I did a GREAT job with Weight Watchers while I was in SC for work and in NYC I just ate… appropriately. Our only dessert indulgance was fro yo (which, a creme brulee fro yo?!!? IS THIS HEAVEN? No, just Tasti D’lite) and my friend and I both just ate healthy. A breakfast buffet doesn’t have to be a horrible thing!!!! Feelings like that are a HUGE success because I feel like it’s winning my brain over, not just changing my food.
I’m back on the WW wagon after the vacation of being off of it and am excited to get going working out again.
I’m DOING THIS. Frilldo.
1. What’s the most obnoxious word/phrase you use on a regular basis? I say “Just saying” and “worst case scenario…” more than anyone ever should.
2. What’s the most memorable bumper sticker you’ve ever seen? I always liked “The pedal on the right makes your car go faster” but thought it was ironic that it would be a BUMPER sticker. I don’t know that I would want the people behind me going too much faster…
3. Share one pet peeve that causes you more grief than it should. CHEWED GUM in visible places. Or the sound of whistling. SRSLY folks.
4. What are your thoughts on re-gifting presents? I usually toss presents I don’t want. I should probably hang onto them. Hahaha..
5. What was your biggest accomplishment this week? Holy eff!!! Umm getting into seeing the SNL Dress Rehearsal, getting to see Amy Poehler do Improv (for free, by the way), talking with Edward James Olmos for 20 minutes…BEST WEEKEND in a long time!!
6. What’s the title of the last movie you watched? Hmmm…Five Year Engagement.
7. If you could only choose one, would you rather have a full-time cleaning person or a full-time chef? Full time chef. I hate cleaning, but if someone were cooking for me, maybe I’d eat healthier and have more energy to clean. ;)
8. Do you enjoy shopping for clothes, or do you dread it? I really really really really hate it. Once I can fit in more I might like it better.
9. What’s your favorite sport to play/watch? My favorite sport to play is softball…My favorite to watch is football/baseball.
10. If you could have coffee with anyone today who would you choose? PEYTON MANNING
